Having only ever run recreationally before, I needed some help with technique and training so I joined V&B Athletic's RUNCorps Sky Running program.

My Story

What was life like before training with V&B Athletic?

Late last year I signed up to compete in the 2018 Buffalo Stampede Marathon. Having only ever run recreationally before, I needed some help with technique and training.

What have you achieved?

I recently finished the Buffalo Stampede Marathon. 42km with over 3000m elevation in some of the toughest terrain and weather conditions I've ever been in. Finishing with a time of 6 hours 40 minutes. I'm incredibly grateful for the advice and training I got from V&B Athletic and the support of the rest of the participants in the Sky Running program.

What are some of the changes you've noticed?

In the first session with Jase, he gave me some invaluable advice to correct my running style. It was challenging to break the old habits but putting what I learnt into practice at my next 5km Parkrun event but I broke my PB by about 30 seconds without even pushing hard.

What is life like now?

Since completing Buffalo Stampede I'm eagerly looking for my next challenge. I've also taken another minute off my 5km Parkrun time. I think that sums up the wealth of knowledge that you can tap into by training with such passionate coaches.

What do you love most about training with V&B Athletic?

Surprisingly, there's a really zen energy training with V&B Athletic. Jase has an incredibly calming persona which radiates across to you during the sessions. It's the kind of training where you'll be challenged but it's also about finding your own rhythm, improving your technique and the speed will naturally follow.

What's your favourite exercise?

The strength-based sessions only because I could stay ahead of my team mates easily, nothing like winning!

What would you say to anyone thinking of training with V&B Athletic?

Give it a go. It's not scary, there's no judgement. It's just a group of people all wanting to be a bit faster, a bit stronger and a bit fitter.
